OSPAAAL Design Research

Case study of a project I did in the fall of 2024 for my History of Graphic Design class. I did extensive research into the history of the OSPAAAL, a Cuban political organization whose stated purpose was to fight globalization and imperialism.

The OSPAAAL has since closed their headquarters (I believe the last artwork they made was a poster of Obama & Vladimir Putin) but their work is still incredibly relevant today. You can find an archive of their gorgeous poster work here.

about me

Mallaìdh (Molly) is a graphic designer who specializes in book cover design, typography, and package design. Her practice is rooted in a love for research, history, archives, and the examination of modern culture through the lens of design. She is currently studying at the Maine College of Art & Design in Portland.

When I am not working, I can be found struggling through the New Yorker crossword, listening to music (save my playlists here), trying new recipes in my (very) small kitchen, or discovering my latest favorite book.
